HI, I'M AMANDA...

When I was a child I was outside at every opportunity, making dens, paddling in streams, picking flowers and poking at insects, before eventually heading home with muddy wellies, scraped knees and twigs in my hair. I still do. Only these days, happily, it’s my job.

I set up Spark Garden Design in 2018 with the intention of putting this connection to nature very much at the heart of my designs. And to reflect my commitment to embracing new approaches to planting design and garden making that were more sustainable and better suited to our changing climate.

To showcase this intention, in 2021 I designed the Punk Rockery garden at RHS Hampton Court. This was a radical, conceptual and unconventional show garden that was also incredibly beautiful and resilient. It won high praise from judges and the public, and was covered extensively in the press and on television.

My work most recently featured in the highly regarded book The Modern Professional Planting Designer by Andrew Fisher-Tomlin.
